Day 1: Marrakech to Ouarzazate – Gateway to the Desert
Your adventure begins as you depart Marrakech and venture through the High Atlas Mountains, revealing stunning vistas and Berber villages. Explore the ancient Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with its labyrinthine mud-brick architecture. Continue to Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Gateway to the Desert,” where you’ll spend the night amidst the captivating blend of tradition and modernity.
Day 2: Ouarzazate to Merzouga – Desert Wonders Unveiled
Awake early for a sunrise spectacle, followed by breakfast and a camel ride back to the main road. Depart for Ouarzazate, stopping for lunch and an optional visit to Taourirt Kasbah. In the afternoon, journey back to Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains. The 2-day desert tour concludes around 19:00 in summer and 20:00 in winter.
Day 3: Merzouga to Marrakech – Farewell to the Sahara
Witness the Sahara come alive at sunrise, an awe-inspiring spectacle painting the dunes in hues of gold and pink. Return to Merzouga by camel, exploring the town of Rissani along the way, famous for its bustling markets and historical significance. Traverse varied landscapes, from rocky plateaus to verdant oases, as you journey back to Marrakech, concluding your remarkable 3-day expedition.
